Paris is claimed to be a city of love and lights. When we talk of Paris, the first thing that comes to mind is an ideal place with high living standards. But very rightly said, all the glitters is not gold. Same is the case here. An ongoing cleanup operation for St. Martin Paris canal have revealed very shocking images of the city’s internal life.
Paris Canal St. Martin is a crowdy area and a hangout for hipsters. You will always see people over that arched bridge. And specially these days of draining of canal, people are often seen bending over the arched bridge to see the sunken items in the brown sludge below.
The draining of water have revealed the presence of shocking items in the canal that used to look so smooth on the surface. The weird sunken items include bikes, rolled up carpets, wine bottles, camera, office chairs, suitcases, supermarket trolleys, public dustbins, and a lot more everyday items and lastly a gun is found in St.Martin canal which is now handed over to the police authorities.
The Saint Martin canal was made in 1825. The Paris Canal is cleaned up or drained after every 10 to 15 years. The Canal had the same shocking revelations in its previous draining operations even the structure of cars are reported to be found in the past.
What a public sector worker in Paris has to say about this sunken treasure, “That’s Paris for you, it’s filthy, “The last time, I don’t remember seeing so much rubbish in it. I despair. The Bobos are using it as a dustbin.”
A worker of the cleanup operation expressed his views, “It’s like some kind of weird submarine treasure, I just can’t believe the quantity of Vélibs in there. I guess they were stolen and thrown in afterwards. It’s bizarre,”
