The former white house residents, the gorgeous couple of former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama are once again in the headlines. Not for something political, but for their artful portraits revealed lately.  Kehinde Wiley, an African American artist created Barack Obama portrait while Amy Sherald colored her brushes to paint the ever-gorgeous former first lady, Michelle Obama’s portrait.

The former US president is looking quite elegant against a green foliaged background. This is what he had to say about the portrait;

“I tried to negotiate less gray hair, and Kehinde’s artistic integrity would not allow him to do what I asked. I tried to negotiate smaller ears, struck out on that as well,” moreover he added, “I had to explain that I’ve got enough political problems without you making me look like Napoleon. We’ve got to bring it down just a touch. And that’s what he did,”

Why Obama Picked Kehinde Wiley?

This is what Obama had to say about his choice of the artist;

“What we did find was that we had certain things in common. Both of us had American mothers who raised us with extraordinary love and support. Both of us had African fathers who had been absent from our lives, and in some ways our journeys involved searching for them, and what that meant. I ended up writing about that journey and channeling it into the work that I did because I cannot paint,”

In a floor-length gown, Michelle too looks elegantly glamourous. She seems quite happy with the artwork of Amy Sherald, who herself is an African American artist.

Former first lady expresses her views in these words; “Amy, I want to thank you for so spectacularly capturing the grace and beauty and intelligence and charm and hotness of the woman I love,”
