A new born baby walking or jogging on its feet sounds totally incredulous, isn’t it? But that is what actually happened in Santa Cruz Hospital in Rio Grande, Brazil. Apparently, a newborn started to walk, with the support of a nurse’s hand, right after 20 minutes of its birth. Normally, a baby can’t stand on its legs for about a few months after birth. But this is a different case. Read on to know more about this amazing story and obviously to watch the video.
The nurse was about to bathe the baby and the baby started to wriggle around and strived hard to walk. Here is what the nurse had to say;
“Merciful father. I was trying to wash her here and she keeps getting up to walk, … “She has walked from here to here,”
‘Heavens above. If you told people what has just happened no one would believe it unless they saw it with their own eyes.’
Here is what one of the spectators said after watching this unbelievable scene;
Wow, she is so cute it’s amazing. If she’s like this now, I can just imagine how precocious she is going to be as she grows up.’
What is the Scientific Explanation of this Miracle Baby Act?
Though the baby has become an internet sensation. And the videos on the web have received thousands of views within 2 to 3 days. But according to medical science, there is nothing miraculous in it. This is a natural condition, found in many newborns. It is termed as stepping reflex. This is what Auckland pediatrician Anne Tait has to explain about these natural reflexes in newborn babies;
“We have a whole lot of primitive reflexes we are born with. The startle reflex, the grasping reflex, the sucking reflex…”I demonstrate some of them in my clinics with parents. Everyone thinks babies can’t do much but they can actually do quite a lot.”
