Emma’s Personal Life!

She was born on 29 November, 1899. That makes her the only living human being who has seen three centuries in her life. Moreover, she was the only living person, till Saturday 15 April 2017, who has witnessed two world wars and a change of about 90 governments in her life span. Last year, on turning 117, this is what she had to say to Reuters;

“My life wasn’t so nice,” “I worked in a factory until I was 65, then that was that,” she had eight brothers and sisters and none of them lived a life as long as Emma did. Only one of her sisters died at the age of 102.

Her Marital Life

Her love life was also not that satisfying. In the dramatically tragic first world war, she had to lose her fiancé. After his untimely demise, she was enforced to marry another man (not of her choice). “‘Either you agree to marry me or I will kill you’,” that is what that second man said to her. At the age of 26, Emma Morano, the oldest living person, married him. They had a baby who died after six months of birth. Last thing that Emma Morano did was quite unusual. She kicked out her husband from her house. In her own words;

“I separated from him in 1938. I think I was one of the first in Italy to do that.”
